At Skilled Tradesmen Trade School we will help you
plan and realize dreams of becoming a professional plumber. We are the only
plumbing apprenticeship program that requires all of its instructors to be Master
Plumbers with at least 10 years of experience. We teach an improved and
modified standardized curriculum from the National Center of Construction
Education and Research (NCCER). Our apprenticeship program is approved and
accredited by:
Maryland
Apprenticeship and Training Council (MATC)
- The Washington DC Apprenticeship and Training Council
- The Virginia Apprenticeship and Training Council
- Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC)
- U.S. Department of Labor (DOL)
The Maryland
Apprenticship and Training Council (MATC) is the registration agency for
apprenticeship programs. Skilled Tradesmen Trade School (STTS) is the only
approved and accredited plumbing program by MATC in Montgomery County, Maryland.
What makes STTS unique is that we allow individuals into our programs if they
meet our qualification guidelines. Our Plumbing Apprenticeship Training Program
encompasses four years of instruction and on-the-job training. Tuition costs are
paid by the apprentices. Our classes are held continuously throughout the year.
While attending classes two nights per week our apprentices are employed by
plumbing contractors. STTS has an ongoing relationship with hundreds of plumbing
contractors that have committed to hiring our students upon acceptance into our
program.
To ensure a successful program we are monitored by:
- The Training Councils listed above – they consist of a twelve-member
board that establishes the apprentice laws and regulations for the state of
Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia.
- STTS Board of Directors - consists of a high school principal, banking
vice president, plumbing vice president, IT president, master plumber, three
business consultants and an executive director.
- Craftsmen Committee - consists primarily of plumbing contractor owners
throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC.
